Stretchmarks affect the majority of the adult population. Practically the entire adult population past the age of 18 will have them. And as for women who have been pregnant, they are generally deemed to be expected as part of child bearing. Other than pubescent growth spurts and pregnancy, stretch marks are also commonly found on people (generally men) who gain muscle mass through body building.

There is of course one thing which each of these groups of people have in common, is that they have undergone rapid growth spurts.
